As I'm always interested in learning more about specialized touchstyle performance and technique, I was interested to learn that Marcus Reuter has developed a systematic approach to playing/learning touchstyle instruments called, "The Family." I think one can get a rough idea of some of the training practices in this video.
This is definitely an interesting system, but it doesn't seem to be written down, or available for study anywhere outside his study group called, the Touch Guitar Circle. I have written Marcus and asked him how one learns this system, and he invited me to attend one of his seminars. Unfortunately, they are held in Europe. Trey Gunn is an advocate and teacher of this system called "The Family," and is available online and in Seattle, Washington for personal lessons and interaction. I would love to know If anybody knows more about the details of this system. Don

This system is really great for hand movement, facility on the board and learning the notes on the board. I study with Trey here in Seattle, and when he introduced this to me, it seemed rather daunting!! however, with patience and perseverance, one can make incredible leaps and bounds. here is a link for the videos.... http://vimeo.com/touchguitars

Randy: I appreciate the information. I remember looking at this site a while ago, but they seem to have a few more resources installed now. I once emailed Markus, asking if he had any written material on "The Family. He didn't. So, I've been studying the videos, trying to replicate some of the patterns, but I really think one needs to do this with a mentor. Quote:

I've been thinking of doing this myself. I don't live too far from Seattle (Victoria, BC, Canada) - a short ferry ride. I admire his work and style. What is it like studying with him? Does he focus on "The Family" in his teaching? Don
