Actually, "tappistry.org" doesn't quite live yet. What lives, is "tappistry.forumchitchat.com." Not quite as simple and elegant as "tappistry.org."

Will there come a time when the URL is refined to its former sophistication? Or will we be continually greeted with "Silence is Golden" as the real URL is approached. The message of "silence' harbored by this URL is anathema to the essence of a forum whose goal should be the antithesis of "silence."

Speak up now!

Don

I address the administrator of this new forum.

So how is it that I can start a new topic in any area other than this one (News & Announcements)? When I try to start a new Topic here, I am told I don't have the correct permissions. Am I forever constrained to reply to other members' commentary?

Don

Thank you for helping to work out the bugs!

I set-up new DNS record to point the domain name to http://www.tappistry.org yesterday.

Supposedly it takes a few minutes to several days for the changes to take effect.

If I don’t see it switch over today, I will troubleshoot.

Won’t be long.  I will notify when the change takes effect.

Regarding ability to create new topics:

I verified that the permissions are properly set.  They are.

Tech support is working on finding the problem as I write this.

Once again, I will notify when the fix takes effect.

I'm impressed with the speed and efficiency with which you have been responding to commentary. Like nimble fingers moving with lightning speed over 12 strings of full treble and bass expression!

I'm still anxiously awaiting its full activation at http://www.tappistry.org (or .com or .net). At the moment, we are growing closer, with a Guest Access screen that appears when the URL is accessed. I can't get in this way at the moment, but tomorrow is a new day!

I have been working between the domain name host and the forum host to resolve the URL issues.  They keep deferring to each other and I haven't been able to get a solid answer why the domain name transfer is not sticking.

I have a new ticket open with the forum host as of this afternoon and am awaiting their response.

It is only a matter of time.

Well, it seems to be working now... and I am hopeful that I am not the only person spending time here, as I am really liking the vibe here πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰

Either way, I'm focusing my on-line efforts here - on this page, and this page only.

I hope that I am not alone...............

It's very important to keep forums outside of Facebook alive, as all FB content is now blocked to all those who are not signed up, some don't seem to realise this.
FB is also very awkward for a forum, the format is designed for casual chat, there are no topics or topic titles, and searching for old posts is almost impossible.
FB contains a lot of good content but is an irritating and unpleasant platform with devious policies.
Unfortunately i have seen many forums die as people move to FB groups because it's "convenient", and therefore excluding those who do not want to join FB.
Sometimes a little effort is required to do the right thing.

Indeed it is, and oddly enough I recently walked away from FB as it no longer served any real purpose with me.

This is one great forum, the trick is getting others to realize it as well πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰
