I see where one builder says that normal resins used for laminating make the instrument sound more like plastic. He uses non-phenolic resins instead. Anyone familiar with that kind of animal?

Also, I see where one builder uses 11 layers about 4 mm thick each (and Maple "Wings"). Normally, people use Purple Heart, Wenge or Rosewood for laminates but wondering what you guys recommend for tone and strength.

As a builder I like to point out that anybody working with loud power tools for a living shouldn't give too much advice in the area of tone.
