Hello Fellow Musicians !!

I’ve been checking out this forum for a little while now and while it seems to be sort of inactive, I still very much prefer it over the other forum that’s out there....

Recently, I have taken delivery of 2 TT Mobius Megatar’s, one is a Toneweaver that is tuned in 3rds the whole way down, and has a custom peg modification [so it can be played sitting down like a cello...] while the other is more traditional with the bass side [on top...] in 5ths, melody side in 4ths [all heavy strings run down the center] which to me is a very very logical tuning.

I also own a Warr Phalanx, where the melody strings run as a mirror image of the bottom bass strings [meaning heaviest strings run down the center of the neck…] and truth be told, I’m still trying to figure how best to tune that [right now melody is in an open tuning, bass side [bottom] is in 4ths...]

While I had always wanted to go the Stick route, as luck would have it – it never quite worked out for me, so in my quest to find a real good tapping instrument, I sought what I believed to be accesible, a Warr first, and the 2 Megatars a few months later [the Megatars only 1 week apart !!]

For me, the Megatars are the perfect instrument, as I like the logic behind them, along with the way the neck feels.

While I love my Warr as well, the neck is quite wide which limits me to un-crossed playing, which is a good thing as I do believe that variety is the spice of life when it comes to different instruments, etc….

*That being said, I'd love to find an older 8 string Warr guitar, set up entirely in 5ths from top to bottom.

My music/compositions can be considered experimental, as I am the result of being exposed to the 1980s downtown NYC art and music scene.

Hopefully this forum comes back to life, as there’s a wealth of knowledge here which I continue to absorb and the folks here seem real genuine.

Cheers !!

This is what both the Mobius Megatars look like - the Toneweaver has Traktor Topaz's signature where the s/n info is !!

*and I want to add, the Toneweaver is tuned in Major 3rds...... and that the peg modification [into an ebony block which picks up the two inserts in the back of the instrument...] allows it to be played like either an Ampeg Baby Bass - or sitting down like a cello, as the range of adjustment is quite a bit....
