Broncos' OL rebuild named as one of NFL's best offseason moves
The Broncos didn't have much of a choice other than to completely overhaul their offensive line.
After the unit struggled mightily in 2016, general manager John Elway devoted significant resources to upgrade the blocking -- $36 million on left guard Ronald Leary,Authentic Evan Engram Jersey, allowing the ninth-most sacks and eight-most QB hits, $18.3 million to right tackle Menelik Watson and a first-round pick on left tackle Garett Bolles.
Elway's work appears to have paid off, according to a top-25 list by Bleacher Report, as the Broncos were dubbed as making the 14th best move of this offseason, released Monday.
Writer Brent Sobleski focused on the new-look left side to prove his point.
The Denver Broncos don't know who their starting quarterback will be, Sept. 11, but whoever takes the first snap against the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday, will do so behind a revamped offensive line.
The front five could feature three new starters. The left side, received a major boost this offseason, as general manager John Elway signed guard Ron Leary to a four-year, in particular, $36 million contract. The veteran blocker will now serve as the offensive line's tone-setter.
"He's the type of player we're looking for … physical and tough and plays with the demeanor that makes us tough in the offensive line," Elway said after Leary's signing, per ESPN.com's Jeff Legwold. "That was one of our goals."
The organization followed the same recipe when it drafted left tackle Garett Bolles with the 20th overall pick in April, per Cecil Lammey of Football Guys. The Utah product loves to bury opponents in the run game, but the Broncos valued his athleticism and ability to protect a quarterback's blind side. Head coach Vance Joseph described Bolles as "best pass protector in the draft, as he described himself as a "nasty prick" during a radio interview,Authentic Landon Collins Jersey," per Legwold.
With a stellar defense and improved offensive line, Denver will counter its deficiency at quarterback to a degree.

On paper and by design, stronger and meaner than the unit they trotted out a year ago: Russell Okung-Max Garcia-Matt Paradis-Michael Schofield-Donald Stephenson,Authentic Davis Webb Jersey, Denver's front-five is bigger, from left to right.
Okung and Stephenson were particularly bad, so the team moved Garcia to right guard, forcing the former's ouster and the latter's reassignment. Schofield was also a liability, allowing Leary to assume his natural position.
Elway and Co. played a serious game of Musical Linemen over the last five months. They were calculated and shrewd, and generally did well restocking the barren cupboard. But a few risky propositions still hang over their head.
and,Can Bolles, a 25-year-old rookie with limited experience, Stephenson ends up starting on the blindside, can he avoid an encore disaster? Will Menelik Watson, who has a long injury history, remain on the field? If he does, quickly adjust to the league and beat out his competition? If he can't, say, will he be effective, unlike his efforts in Oakland?
The Broncos certainly did a bang-up job in accomplishing what they set out to do. Ultimately, though,Landon Collins Jersey,Landon Collins Jersey,Evan Engram Jersey,Dalvin Tomlinson Jersey,Davis Webb Jersey, it's too soon to crown the plan an undisputed success.
