I suppose this could have gone under the "bazaar" topic, but there is a unique touchstyle design in a homemade instrument on eBay:
Item number 140005878972
I think the body shape, and method of attaching the strap, are unique.
Interesting, anyway.

It's at a good price right now too.
It'll be interesting to see how much a homebuilt tapper goes for.

I would think the location of all those knobs and switches would get in the way of the right hand. Any thoughts?

That's exaclty what I thought when I saw the knobs. I like the contours on the back of the instrument though. It looks pretty comfortable other than the knob situation.

i like the design of those horns.
Those are two standard emg guitar pickups, and they look soooo wide compared too the strings. So it's obvious he chose an extrem narrow stringspacing on this parallell strings setup. and that happens to be the rason why he sells it, according to ebay.
Also i wonder how the bass side sounds with the pickup so close to the bridge. It should be more upper register overtones and a "thinner" sound? but i'm not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing on the bass side?
The dot markers actually are leds, with an on/off switch? wow.
Would be fun to see the other one he made, that he now plays.

I am a bit stunned to report that it went for $1100.

The market seems to be hot. I bought mine three years ago (used) for $1100, if my memory is correct. Similar units have been going for $1500 and up in the last few months. Some units less than 5 years old have gone for prices almost equal to new.

I bought my Chapman Stick in '94 for $700. I sold it a couplo of years ago on ebay for $1400 I think. This was one of the first sticks made. Absolutely nothing was adjustable on it. The bridge was a piece of metal that had been hammered to be shaped like a bridge. To adjust height or intonation, I guess you would have had to hammer out a new one. The stick was in bad condition, the frets had been worn away to nothing, there were chips and dings all over it. The pick up module was cracked where the jack connected. I advertised all these problems in my ebay listing and crossed my fingers, hoping to get atleast $500 out of it. To say there is a feeding frenzy on sticks would be an understatemnt.

I completely agree. Maybe it's time for its vintage status. Both my Sticks cost me a combined $1100 from 1986 and 1993! And..............they are both from the same friend who never had time to learn it!
Like I said - I love my Meggy's, and I would love a new Tascam mixing board.
Hmmmmmmmmm.........................
Oh - who am I kidding!!! My Sticks are a part of my living will to my college. [Sigh]
But I tell ya.........................
