As far as I know, Daniel hasn't sent out a formal announcement (from what I understand he's been quite busy composing new operas), but the European Tap-guitar Seminar aka E-Tap is happening again in 2006.
This year, the invited grandmaster is Jim Wright, who of course is the official head evangelist for Warr Guitars. In addition to that, he does a mean Zappa cover or three, and I'm not talking Bobby Brown here.
I didn't go last year, but I am going this year. It'll be the tenth time for me. I don't know this for sure, but I have a feeling I have the longest way to go (the distance between Brisbane and Brussels is 16310 km as the crow flies), so if you've been putting off going with the excuse that it's so far away, that one doesn't cut it anymore.
Pictures and reports from previous seminars (not from 2005 though) are, as always, available at http://www.tapguitar.com/
The seminar takes place in Neufchateau, Belgium, from July 8 to July 15. There's a special "Tap Night" in Brussels on Friday July 7. See http://www.clicmusic.be/ for more info.
And if anyone who is going is reading this, let's have a show of hands!

I might be going. Anything for non-tapping spouses to do during the seminar?

This just in from Daniel Schell:
It is indeed true that I am in the process of finishing two operas and arrangements for orchestras in due dates.
And so indeed we were not able to communicate with the tapping community.
Please excuse us and communicate to the tapping community that E-Tap is going on, as you said, with Jim Wright.
The tap night will happen in a new nice place: The Jazz Station (http://www.jazzinbelgium.com/venue/jazz-station)
Also; we shall arrange that jazzy E-Tappers can go to Libramont in the jazz section, and New/Trad music can go to Neufchâteau in the New Musci/Trad section.
So please announce these events.
Many thanks
Daniel

I just heard from Daniel that there are still some places available for E-tap 2006, so if you've been thinking of maybe going, now is the time to stand up and be counted! And if you haven't been thinking of going, why not? More info from Clic Music (http://www.clicmusic.be/), or if you want a student's perspective, feel free to PM me.
As a bonus incentive, I hereby pledge to buy all Tappistry.Org members a beverage of their choice at the Tap Night in Brussels on 7/7! :D

As far as I know, the seminar is held the same time every year, so it might be that it would always conflict with your birthday.

The bad news is: I won't attend the seminar.
The good news is: I will be in Libramont for the jazz seminar.
I plan to bring my ADG although my main instuments are piano and voice.
I think I can't make it for the tap night, because I work on friday and I don't have a place to sleep on friday night.
Although I won't have a car, I hope I will have the opportunity to meet you there.

I'd love to go, but that won't be til next year... Wich is for the best anyway, by then i'll be able to play a few at least a few songs more on my trusty megatar:rolleyes:

Although I won't have a car, I hope I will have the opportunity to meet you there.I think Daniel has some kind of an "exchange student" thing planned for the tap guitarists & the jazz seminar, we'll see how it all works out.
If not, just get yourself to N-C whenever the Academy bar is open, and you'll find us there...

there is to be more and more links in between Neufchâteau Trad and Libramont Jazz. So there will be an evening master class in Libramont, where the tappers will show their ability in jazz. Probably on Tuesday evening.
Plus, we shall come back for a few concerts and jam-sessions there. We did it last year and Randy and Jim were really apreciated there.
And we shall have the Libramont guys visiting us also, because the jazz guys also like to have links to our Indian virtuosos like Sandip and Purbayan of course...
So a lot a of good future understanding between World music and Jazz coming out.
I might add that it's not just about world music and jazz, other styles are well represented as well. Or is King Crimson a jazz group? 'Cause we did "Red" at the final concert one year.

Ola,
Thanks for the info and links.
Regarding the following picture:
http://www.clicmusic.be/images/E-Tap_06-instruments.jpg
I don't recognize the third and ninth instrument (counting from the left). One was played by one of the 'tapping girls' and one was played by some guy with long hair. Do you know who manufactures these instruments?
Thanks,
Jay
