To me, they look like Steinberger's direct pull tuners, turned at 90 degrees. They too seem to have a point where the string bends over something. I would hope that there is a little wheel in there, but I am guessing there isn't. Quote: "Soft Radius String Guides"

For tapping instruments I worry about tuner weight, but they claim they are light.

I also worry about the maximum string diameter they can take. Perhaps they can be redrilled.
