Maybe a stupid question, but since i'm a complete stranger to electric instruments i was wondering wat kind of gear you need to start playing on a (tapping)guitar

Besides the instrument of course...

My set-up is very simple. I have several tapping instruments (a Stick, two home-made units, a couple electric guitars set up for tapping), and I simply run them through a little $70 guitar pedal (just for a little reverb/echo...to "round the edges" of the sound), and then either into a set of headphones, or into an amp.

For the stereo instruments (Stick, one of my home-made units), I run the two outputs into a little $40 battery-operated mixer before running into the guitar pedal. When my wife and I play duets, we run her acoustic-electric into the little mixer also.

I know that many people are into effects, looping, and use them with great results....I tend to take a more minimal approach, however. I confess that I do lust over the effects/looping gear in the cataloges that come to my mailbox. It's overwhelming all of the boxes and effects systems out there.
