I was egged on to post about my "new" Warr 12 string, so here it is.
According to Frank Jolliffee, it is one of 2 "giant" instruments made for Trey Gunn. It is made of bubinga, phillipino mahogany and wenge, with a wenge fretboard. It's amazingly lightweight for it's size, and has a wonderful tone.
Due to the way the pickups were set, it's tuned on the bass side C# to A# (low to high, middle of fretboard to edge, 5 strings) and the melody site is C# to D# (5ths, low to high, middle of fretboard to edge, 7 strings). The pups could be shifted to the treble side about 1/2" to truly split the strings at 6/6, but what can you do?
It's a great instrument, quality craftsmanship, and a lot of fun to play. Did I mention that it's huge?
