View Full Version : Hello from a Touch Guitar Padawan Learner

I just wanted to take the time to say hello to all the gifted musicians here on the board.

I've been playing music in some form or fashion for over 2 decades. 15 years playing guitar (self-taught) 19 years playing bass (classically trained up-right bass player and bass guitar) and 23 years playing keyboards (self-taught).

I think the big turning point for me was seeing Trey Gunn perform with King Crimson in 2003. I had never even heard of Warr guitars or touch-playing. I did a little bit of poking around, but with the recent chance to meet Tony Levon at a California Guitar Trio concert, my interest has been re-ignited.

I'm currently researching the purchase of a Megatar (many thanks to Traktor for the help and fast e-mails - you are the best).

I suppose what I'd like to know from the community: What did you find easiest to learn when you made the transition? What was the most difficult?

Many thanks, and I look forward to starting my "in-touch" music soon.

Well, after a holiday weekend to go over things in my mind (as well as a little creative fiscal slight-of-hand) I've put in my order to Traktor for a Megatar MaxTapper.

I'm looking forward to getting it and start working on a purpose built tapping instrument.

Hey, cool! Maybe you can let us know a little about it once you've had time to play with it for a bit?

No problem. I'm sure it will feel a bit strange when I start out, and I'm also sure I will play around with various positions and playing stle before I find the one that works best for me.

I'll document all that and pass it along if you are interested.

Also, does anyone know of a touchguitar circle in the Atlanta, Ga. area? My brother-in-law (who is knowledgeable about such things) suggested that I find one to learn with.

Many thanks,

Eric "GuitarEC"
