Well, five weekends ago, I started work on my third touch/tap instrument, Prototype 3. I stringed it up this week, and recorded a few short clips:

Sorry for any and all mistakes. I'm still getting used to it, the uncrossed tuning, new string spacing, new ergonomics, etc. The recording system was humble. The output was fed into a little Ross mixer, into a cheap Zoom effects pedal for a little reverb, and then directly into a computer for recording.

It has 8 strings (just consider me inspired by Brenda and Fredrik). It has a 4ths/5ths tuning, and passive DiMarzio pickups, and a 32" scale. Thanks to Traktor for the strings.

No pictures yet, my creations are still pretty crude, and not pretty enough to present to the world yet. I need to play Prototype 3 for 4-6 months, and decide what changes to make in P4....which I am hoping is the model that I can reveal publically.

Sounds nice. Nice playing. What it looks like isn't as important as how it sounds, but I still want to see it.

RJ, you have a consistently warm and round tone, regardless of what instrument you use. Very cool. That being said, is this instrument semi-hollow or chambered? It has that certain depth of sound.
