Tappistry.org needs your help

Following a discussion among the three of us, we have decided that the team of volunteers needs expanding

We are gearing the website towards a greater coverage of tapping-related music and music making. The two positions that we are offering are an associate Articles Guru, and the brand-new and exciting responsibility of Merchandise Guru. Here is a brief description of the positions

Articles Guru

The realm of the website beyond this bulletin board is a lot less visited and could do with the most development. To help its expansion, we are looking for someone to fulfil an extra position of Articles Guru.

Those interested in this post will have an active role in researching and seeking articles on two-handed tapping. There are more articles out there than you think! As Traktor commented: "we've had plenty of offers of material ... It's quite easy to contact folks and obtain new articles and to get permission to reprint existing articles."

This part of the website is managed by server-based software that many bloggers use. It basically eliminates the need for mostly all HTML coding so you don't have to be technically minded. All you need to do is to write the main text content. An interest in writing and learning about tapping techniques and music would be ideal.

Our existing Articles Guru, rjgoos has recently suffered from considerable staff cutbacks at his workplace. This has meant he cannot contribute as much to the Tappistry.org community as he would have liked to. I think a helping hand in this department would be much appreciated

Merchandise Guru (official title subject to change!)

Some time ago, it was also agreed that Tappistry.org merchandise would be a welcome addition to the community. There is a great website that allows anyone to sell their unique wares known as CaféPress.com (http://www.cafepress.com/).

It seems like we currently have other responsibilities to deal with besides this. However, we do think the small amount of revenue made could go towards the general up-keep of the place. I am sure that many of you would like your own mug with the Tappistry logo on it!

We are looking for someone to help us start up a CaféPress store and become our Merchandise Guru. While keeping a close contact with the rest of the team, you will eventually deal with transactions and ordering of extra stock. As the native currency to CaféPress is in US dollars, someone with a US bank account will be most desirable. However, anybody from around the world should be able to purchase from the store.

The position shouldn't require business-savvy individuals, but it will certainly help. CaféPress seems to serve those who want to print out personalised gifts for friends and family too

The positions wont require a great deal of time once you have mastered the ropes, but the most effective people will be those with an interest and support in the community of tappers.

I have left this thread open for replies. If you don't want your application publicly known you can always send a PM to Traktor

Yes, articles & lessons are plentiful. Yes, getting permission is easy. This in mind, one must ask why there haven't been more articles re-printed here...although I'm guessing it has something to do with editorial standards - yes?

So, what are the editorial standards?

As an aside, a simple googling of "touchstyle guitar" renders almost 700 sites:

http://www.google.com/search?biw=1024&hl=en&q=touchstyle+guitar
Google Search: touchstyle guitar

"tapping/touchstyle guitar" over 200:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&biw=1024&q=tapping%2Ftouchstyle+guitar
Google Search: tapping/touchstyle guitar

"touchstyle guita lessons" another 500+ (with Tappistry at the top of the list):

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&biw=1024&q=touchstyle+guitar+lessons
Google Search: touchstyle guitar lessons

Don't bother with "tapping guitar lessons', thouigh, unless you want to pile through 60,000+ sites!

Who owns Tappistry.Org? The account should be set up to that person.

I run my own CafePress store (actually, several shops) and it is quite easy. No need to "...deal with transactions and order(ing) extra stock...". You just up-load images, walk through the merchandising process, and it flies all by itself. CafePress prints to order, which is why their cost is high (meaning your profit is extremely low). But it's worth it to not have to deal with order fulfillment (card processing, packaging, shipping, returns, etc.).
