To focus tappistry's attention towards music and music making, I thought I'd start a common thread subject found on many message boards:
What music are you listening to at the moment?
To make it more interesting and meaningful. Please write a bit about the track you are listening to - for instance, why do you like it? Would you recommend it to other members? Why? It doesn't have to be tapping-related, but it would be topical if it was
I am listening to 'Night Embrace' by the Dark Aether Project
They are very similar in style to present-day King Crimson, the bassist Adam Levin (no relation!) plays a Warr Guitar. While they might be seen by some to rip-off the Krim, their tracks have originality. While the music involves Fripp-like intricate guitar patterns, the lyrical content isn't concerned about fancy word-play. They have female lead singer

Right now I'm listening to Evgueni Seleznev -- a member of this forum still, I think -- and the song is "Hornet in My Hands."
Rock like a bronco, drive like a freight train!
The dude makes my 61-year-old carcass dance around the room.
I like it.

What am I listening to lately, or right now?
Since I teach, just yesterday I listened to everything from thrash metal to folk (hahaha!). Since I just moved, most of my CDs haven;t come out of the boxes, yet (hahaha!)....but the last 2 were 1) The live Miles Davis & Quincy Jones disc, and 2) Satriani's "Crystal Planet".
Last song on the radio was something new by Kelly Clarkson. Song I was JUST listening to: Tappistry.Org participant HPCRAZY's "Claim Up". Check the movie out here:

I've taken up a habit of digging deep into my vault and picking a different commute soundtrack CD each morning. Today, I've been mostly listening to Coltrane's "Ole". Fascinating stuff. While I was driving, I kept thinking that this is the kind of stuff that future music historians will refer to over and over again when they are charting the development of harmony. McCoy Tyner's clustered piano stylings on that album are just not of this earth.
The most recent tapping-related CD I've listened to is Centrozoon's latest "Never Trust The Way You Are", featuring 8-string Warrior extraordinaire Markus Reuter. A wonderful mishmash of retro and contemporary electronica with some truly catchy tunes, covered in a delicious vocal icing by Tim Bowness (No-Man, Henry Fool). Infinitely more accessible than "The Cult of Bibbiboo", which I also liked, but for different reasons. I hear the CD is being relaunched in July - be sure to grab a copy.
