Google's cache is great.

I also use the Wayback Machine at www.archive.org

You cannot search, but if you have a dead URL, there is at least a chance that they have it. They don't have everything, but I have found a lot of otherwise lost information there.

Wasn't the Wayback Machine invented by Peabody and his pet boy Sherman? I don't see them credited...

www.wayback.com credits archive.org, but no I couldn't find it credited the other way round

The cartoon dog looks familiar. Not sure where I've seen it before

The dog is Peabody, who ought to be credited by name. Sherman is his pet.
