I have one question about short scale length. Typical 7-string guitar has scale 27', typical 6-string has scale 25,5' (648 mm), Gibson Les Paul has shorter: 628 mm.

My question is: it is possibile use bass part (6 strings) of 7-string set on 6-string guitar??? For example - use strings BGDAEB in Gibson Les Paul (with scale 628 mm)???

This isn't typical tunning - I know. Long scale gives better sound on bass side (specially heavy B string)...

Anybody did these experiment?

Adam, what you're describing is called "drop-B" tuning. Bands like Soundgarden and Slipknot have been making this popular, to the extent that at least Yamaha is now offering a 6-string guitar designed for that tuning.

I always say - where the budget allows - get the instrument set up for this very thing - the BARITONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once a person gets their hands on a good baritone, they never look back to "special tunings" and suff. They just rock!!!

Baritone's are also set in a price range from inexpensive to pricey.

Groove on it!!!

Has anyone tried an Alembic Orion Baritone?
