European Summer Tap-Guitar Seminar 2005, July 8-15 , Neufchâteau (Belgium)
With teachers: Wolfgang Daiss (D), Andre Pelat (Fr), Daniel Schell (B) and Randy Strom (USA). Special tapping master classes by Adam Fulara (Poland) and Mathias Sorof (D).
Subject: Tapping, the action of tapping on the strings of a guitar (or tiptar) with the tip of the fingers.
Instruments: Classical or electric guitars. Instruments specially designed for tapping such as tap guitars, tiptars, whatever their makers (Abramovitz, Austin Douglas tm, Belgrado, Megatar tm, Stick tm, Vassilevsky, Warr Guitars tm) , tunings or number of strings.
Musical Holydays: The Tap Seminar is part of a big event, namely the section Musiques et danses traditionnelles of the Académie d'été de Wallonie. Walks in the Ardens and bathing in the Semois river are organised every day. Do not miss the evening concerts and dance parties with girls and boys enjoying the traditional rondes and group dances

Teachers and teaching:
Wolfgang Daiss, Jazz
Wolfgang teaches the jazz guitar and t-g in Stuttgart and plays regularly in Jazz clubs with his quartet. He presents jazz style improvisation, chord changes, walking bass, practice on simple compositions by Frank Jolliffe, Daiss and other standards. Wolfgang plays all tunings: banjo-s, classics, lutes, tiptars tuned in fourths-fourths and fifths-fourths.
André Pélat : The extraordinary virtuoso will be invited master this year. André, who comes from Montpellier, plays a tiptar with 12 strings tuned in Chapman Fifths-fourths tuning. He adapted many classical pieces for this instrument. Amongst these Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Gounod and others. André is also composer and teacher. He has innovated in the art of tapping with new fingering, open hand positions, extensive usage of the little finger, trills, alternating hands on one region, open strings effects, light-speed arpeggios. André is also a rocker full of swing able to heat up the crowd of Neufchâteau
Daniel Schell New and classical Music, reading and harmony, Indian music From his "My Space" books, Daniel will present the tapping fundamentals and a choice of classical and contemporary compositions. Also special classes on Indian , Flamenco, the music of Jobim, Steve Hayden, and others.
Randy Strom will be the guest teacher for E-Tap 05. Randy is one of the outstanding US jazz performers today. A unique occasion to study with him for his first apearance in Europe. His skill in performing walking bass lines interacting with chords and improvisational work, is quite unique.
Master Classes
Adam Fulara: is a talented player from Poland. He studied classical, rock and plays jazz pieces with his trio. He plays six strings double necks guitar. He presents us a choice of his own compositionsas well as classical pieces by Bach.
Mathias Sorof "The Possibilities of Musical Expression on Tap-Guitar” How to work with the new way on guitar technically, stylistically, in composition, arrangement and pedagogy.
Join the Tap Guitar Night at the Arobase, Wednesday, July 7th. 8pm. With the aforementioned artists. Place to be confirmed.
Price : 476 Euros including tuition (368 ), meals and accomodation (168 ).
