Has anyone here experimented with bridge muting?
Some latin bass players play by rolling the treble controls all the way down, muting with the palm of the right hand, and then tapping with the left hand.
I tried this on my bass with *some* success, but have not gotten a chance to try it on a dedicated tapping instrument. Sometimes I take my sock off and shove it between the bridge pickup and the bridge. It's quite effective as a fingerstyle mute.
So, has anyone tried to mute the bass strings near the bridge to give a more full (rounded) bass sound? And, if so, how were the results?
Thanks,
Pho
