Hello,and thanks for dropping by!

Im a 29 year old bassist from the uk,Ive played bass for about 12years and have always been interested in tapping.
Two weeks ago i picked up my Mobius Megatar-MaxTapper and my whole playing world has gone done a U-turn!What a joy to finally play on the instrument thats designed for tapping alone!
I had my megatar set up in the inverted 5th tuning but ive decided i would prefer my bass strings tuned in fourths but having the lowest string(C#) in the middle of the fretboard(SAME *** BASS BOTTOM TUNING BUT IN REVERSE)(Is this possible to do?and if so has anybody else tried this?
Im a bit worried because of the Feiten system.I dont want to mess up the whole intonation as i live in the uk and cant really send my instrument to the states if i mess it up!!!!!!(Any ideas anyone?)
Also are there any UK Megatar players out there?or is it just me and Myron!(Hey Myron, how are you fella?)
Also thanks alot to Traktor for letting me know about this website.Any ticks and tips would be great,im still new to this crazy world of tapping instruments, but im keen as hell to be a great tapper!.
Thanks for taking the time to read this giant post...
Take care Craig!

That would just be called "Mirrored" BassBottom tuning.

All you need is a set of BassBottom strings (because the gauges need to be a bit different if you're tuning in fourths rather than fifths). Or you can get the gauges you need from a music store. The gauges are listed in the Owner's Guide, which is available at the Mobius Documents Site (http://www.megatar.com/documents/#ownersguide)
Im a bit worried because of the Feiten system.I dont want to mess up the whole intonation as i live in the uk and cant really send my instrument to the states if i mess it up!!!!!!(Any ideas anyone?) Well, if you change the tuning, any intonation (Feiten or otherwise) becomes worthless, and in fact any time you change tuning you really need to re-intonate an instrument.

In the Owner's Guide, it gives directions for how to set up Standard Intonation, which is easy to do. It's your best no-cost option. It won't sound as "in-tune" as a Feitenized instrument, but it will sound as good as any other instrument.

If you want to have the Feiten set up in a new tuning, you'd need to: (a) ship it to the factory; (b) ask Myron can he reset it; or (c) locate a Feiten shop in England (search on the Buzz Feiten website (http://buzzfeiten.com/) for a list of trained Feitaneros). Please contact me via email or private message if you need more info.

And thank yew! Thank yew vurry much!

Hey there Tractor and all fellow tappers.
I tried that new tuning i asked about.(Bass-bottom mirrored)and i love it!...C# now being the low note on fret 2(string 7) and D,being the high note on fret 2
I really liked the whole idea of fifths bottom, but i found that (for me)...there were to few low notes to play around with, and there were already plenty of high notes in the harmony section. Now i have the best of both worlds, with easy access all round!
Is it at all possible to have the harmony strings in reverse 5ths?
I feel this would be far more creative if it is at all possible.Has this been done?and if so i would love to know what gauge strings you use?
I love the whole idea of it but im at a loss with the string gauges, someone please help!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers Craig!

String gauges are covered fully on Daniel Schell's site:

Mirrored 4ths offer great musical opportunities. I'd point you to the web site of Stick player Rob Martino, who plays in mirrored 4ths, and who has posted some MP3s:

Good luck!!

I'm another London-based Megatar Player.

I missed the last London tapping get together but hopefully we'll have another one soon. It'd be good for a few of us Megatarists and other Teflon-players to be there to stand up to all the Stick guys!
