Sorry to bore anyone, but I'm posting my thread from the playing forum here too in hopes of getting a reply :)

Just wondering if anyone has any tips for playing fast(ish) 8th notes driving bass with one hand? In fact, specifically: are there any tips on getting maximum tone when playing 2 fingers alternating on the same fret?

Cheers,

Thom...

Hey Thom,

When I have to do quick 8th note lines, I take a metronome, just like everything and do the sub dividing practice. It really works, set it at a very slow tempo, hit the quarters, 8ths, 16ths and so on. It helps nail your time down for this, even if you have good time. I tap some and have got into tapping solo acoustic ruitar gigs, but when I do cover work I tap a six string bass and keys at the same time (only a money gig). But I've encountered the same problems especially if it's a steady bass line and a way different key line. Though I could already tap, it way improved my strength too and with a band behind me I had to keep up with two other guitars. Let me know if I am not clear.
