View Full Version : String height and intonation

What would be the apropriate string hight (related to the frets) at the nut?
Does intonation behave different on tapping instruments? It seems like the bridges are more equal on each string on tappers compared to guitars and basses...
Any views on these q's would be highly apreciated!

Warr Guitars and ADGs have the same size saddles for all string gauges. The wound strings need to be a contact core or piano wire design to fit. This allows for a uniform setting of intonation. The saddles can be set lower than they would be on a regular bass guitar bridge
On my instrument the string height at the nut seems like a standard guitar height of just under 2 mm. The dampener doesn't seem to affect string height
Here are some close-ups of my bridge after I intonated my (non-Feiten) instrument - http://jstark.nfshost.com/warrbridge.htm

Thanx James!
I'm having a tapguitar built (8 string) here in Norway, but no other instrument to compare with at the time, so your info is very helpfull!

I should also say there are some other good instrument photos at rockola's website - http://www.tapguitar.com/equipment.html
