There seem to be numerous tappers these days that are delving into Indian Music. Currently we have two such tappers on the forum. I was hoping that Teed and Daniel could elaborate on how they became interested in Indian music and how it has affected their playing over the years.

Hi William,
First I guess that I love Indian music.
Now why I relate it to tapping:
- Tapping can be quite unexpressive (tap tap tip tap tap....) . Sitar or sarod playing cope with that. there is a lot of ornamentation available: glide, bend , cut....
- two region tapping is in many waysimilar to tabla playing. Again there is an important pedagogy available.
- Tiptar can accompany Indian music very well. tiptar is one of the only instruments where whole chords can be bent. On the tuning in fourths you can also play chords in seconds and other sorts of 'modal' chords.
- Tiptar allows glides on the bass.
- The Indian pedagogy is very powerful, especially for improvisers.. There is plenty of that in my books 'Practice of Indian music' and also 'My Space'.
Well there must be a lot of other reasons I guess...
