hey guys, I'm new to the forum...and wasn't quite sure where exactly to post. I just wanted to introduce myself a bit and maybe ask for some advice if it's ok. I grew up on piano, and at age 12 got into guitar, and for the last 6-7 yrs been playing bass. (nothing professional) I have just recently learned about tapping, chapman sticks, warr guitars, and am totally intrigued by the technique. I'm a full time student working on a degree in molecular engineering and physics, and money is really tight with 3 kids and a wife. I'm thinking of making an investment in a stick, (with wifes blessings) with 1 of my tuition refund checks. It's quite an investment, so I'm very apprehensive. I'm wanting something that's a good guitar/bass combo that would be good for a beginer, and something that would easily interface with my pc, maybe with midi. (I do alot of weird audio stuff with exotic software) Mst of my stuff will/is be done on pc. Got any advice or suggestions anyone? :)

We are "non-denominational" here. Players of most brands of touch/tap instruments are here. Hopefully others will jump in here.
I play a Stick. A traditional way to get started has been to get a used Stick. If you like it, you've got a good instrument, if not, you can usually sell it for about what you've got in it. I got a used Stick a year ago, and it has been a good place for me to start.
Regarding other makes of instruments, MIDI, etc., I'll leave that to others.
Molecular engineering....how is that different than chemical engineering?

Well, I'm gettin on up in my years as an "old-folk"....I wasted most of my younger years on womens and partying, but have always been a "rocket-scientist" at heart.... music and creativity has always been my true "drive". My goals in molecular engineering aren't much different than that of chemistry, but the field I'm in pursuant of is nanotechnology. I'm really hooked on computer programing and am looking for innovative blends of music and software.... trying to create something "new & different". I'm a n00b compared to most of you guys, but have some creative genious (so I've been told) and I'm gonna make a "statement" somehow, if it's the last thing I do in my life. I really am looking forward to doing great things with the support and encouragement from my friends, family, and peers. All I can do is what is in my heart and imagination. I really am looking forward to what this excellent group has to offer, and hope I can do my part to contribute as well. *looking for mentors*
