OK, Traktor, Ola has thrown down the gauntlet....he has posted an MP3 from an old cassette. Now, I have it on good authority that YOU once sold a cassette....we want to hear an MP3 or two from that, too!!

R. Jay Goos

(Ola...thanks for the MP3! There is no doubt which brand of instrument is being played)

I've not yet seen a response from TT since RJG laid down the gauntlet, so i'm proud to announce that an anonymous benefactor has provided me with one copy of the long lost Traktor Topaz cassette titled "Left My Heart" !! I am currently in the process of dup'ing the tape onto CD with no editing whatsoever, so hopefully the tape's Dolby-B will eliminate some / most of the tape hiss before it hits the CD !! After successful duplication and bearable sound quality testing i'll be ready to offer up evaluation CD's to anyone who expresses a sincere interest. email drakeley@monmouth.com if you'd like to reserve a copy. And please, no sermons, I am quite sure Traktor supports my effort in distributing music that just has to be heard, it surely belongs in The Glenn Drakeley Museum of American Musicana !!!!

Jeez, since Stick Enterprises doesn't list the TT cassette for sale anymore I assumed I was doing a great public service since they obviously sold them out !!!!

Well, gee, I guess since it's you and all and everything, and whatnot ... well ... OK.

I humby ask only one thing. If possible do add "Copyright Traktor Topaz" somewhere, because some compositions are my own (depending upon which cassette you have).

Thanks Traktor, and i'm officially naming the CD's "Copyright Traktor Topaz" so I don't forget !! I'm now opening the floodgates in anticipation of the onslaught of requests that i'm about to receive !!!!

Glenn, please reserve me a copy, and I will also be happy to remit a reasonable fee to TT as well.

I'm sorry, but the policy of this office is to accept only unreasonable fees. For megatars, of course that means unreasonably low fees. For copyrighted, really really classy ditties composed meticulously by your trulys, that means unreasonably HIGH. And if you're high enough, I say you'll come through.

My motto in this case, is: Mongo-bongo or Nada, Baby!

Traktor's the one with the beard in the front, right???

Ok, Ok, you monsters!

OK, on the playlist for Left My Heart, only Maggie's Song (played on piano), Lovebird Suite (played on synth and Simmons Drums), and Celeste (on skinny tapping instrument(R)) are my compositions.

I was thinking of my *other* cassette, with songs like Fly like Summer Love, Spike Jones Walk, featuring synthesizers and even a blues harp solo by Piglips Hawkins. I don't know if I even have a copy of this rare bit of Americana.

And as to the Belgian E-Tap photograph, I am the fat one on the right playing a Santucci TrebleBass. It was this instrument which introduced me to bass in fourths, and the sanity and joy of playing identical scales in each hand.

[The fellow with the beard in the front row is Wolfgang Daiss, who plays a Warr and a Megatar in German clubs, and who "invented" the uncrossed string arrangement which has gained so many adherents.]

Thanks for the clarification Traktor, I thought you were the little kid between Daniel Schell and Jody from "Family Affair" :p

Monsters we are...

Of course, Traktor has deserved none of the grief he has endured on this thread.

For the sake of fairness and equal embarrassment, a bad session of me practicing for a talent show, including singing, is at:

Jay, is that song for real?

I can never tell if you're serious or not :)

It is for real, in that I did write it as a satire of country music (at least a satire of the twangy kind of country music that I had to listen to when I was a child).
