On behalf of Mobius Megatar, I'd like to announce the opening of our new "Megatar Store" on EBay.
(See the full announcement in Swapmeet --rockola)

I notice that both Traktor AND Stu Box have been gripped by some sort of entreprenurial fever, and both are taking steps to reduce delivery times and increase supply of touchstyle instruments!!
Best of luck to both of you.

Traktor,
May I suggest that you put the word "Megatar" in your item titles? I have a saved search for "Megatar" on MyeBay, and would have never found the instruments if you had not posted here.

Hi, Fretdragon,
Thanks for your good idea. However, due to EBay's standard operation, I cannot do it exactly as you (wisely) suggest.
If you visit the Megatar Store (http://stores.ebay.com/megatarstore), you will see that of the seven instruments listed, six of them *do* have the word "Megatar" in the title.
Why then does your search on EBay not turn them up?
Because EBay, in their wisdom, does not search the stores' inventory but rather only searches the *auctions*. So the instruments I have in the Megatar Store will not show up in the auctions search from the EBay main page.
Now, in theory, when the EBay main page search finds less than ten items, it is then supposed to pop up additional items, labled "results from other sections of EBay." That's what *spozed* to happen. But it only happens *IF* you put the search item in quotes. Isn't that clever?
So if you, as is reasonable, search for Mobius Megatar you'll never see our store inventory. But if you search for "Mobius Megatar" (with quotes), well there it is.
Dumb, no?

Didn't see anyone post feedback about the painted Megatars, so I felt obliged.
The Black Max looks beautiful. The single color scheme really brings the whole thing together. I like the red one too, but black is more my color.
It's funny but I hadn't noticed before this that most of the tapping instruments aren't painted. (I realize the Cow paint job is an option on the Warrs).

Hi Traktor,
that`s what your Megatars have needed!
The futuristic design of your Instruments have me always reminded to the Vox Guitars of the 60s, and they looks great with the typical colors of the period. So, why not a tapguitar in butterscotch, midnight blue, or better in pink, like the Daisy Rock guitars....? The tapper scene is not so conservative and boring as we sometimes think.

I've found a nice Midnight Blue, but what is butterscotch?
And do you really think these sturdy, manly, floor-spitting, hairy-armed, beer-swilling, rough-talking tapper-guys would go for ... pink? :o

I like the appearance of the black and the blonde models...but does that point out a character flaw (only sees things in black or white)??
Has response to the "Megatar store" been good?
Ever thought of selling strings at the store, too? I've tried two sources for strings. One source took 4-5 weeks (and 3 phone calls) to deliver a set of strings, and another never replied to two inquiries via e-mail. There has got to be a better way.

Glenn's response:
I think I still hold the world's record for string delivery, or non-delivery as it still is today; on 11/30/96, 3:45PM NJ time, I ordered strings for an instrument of mine, this coming November 30th will be the 8 year anniversary of my order and I have still not received the strings !!!
Good idea advertising strings at The Megatar Store on ebay.
Also, TouchStyle Publications still advertises strings and I believe Frank is still in touch with the Tapping communities needs, you'd need to check with him tho.
Lastly, I had my JC-35 strung exactly as 2/3 of my Megatars, keeps my string requirements quite simple and I have a reliable source in Traktor !!!

You know, I'd not much thought of strings, but this is a pretty good idea.
The string supply at the Secret Megatar Laboratory is about ready to be replenished, so I'll take a look at stocks and see about offerring strings.
I know how annoying it is to have delays in ordering something. I'm hoping that the immediate availability of Mobius Megatar instruments will be useful for new tappers. The Megatar Store has not been announced anywhere other than here, so it's hard to say how much response there has been. Sales have been up a bit, but were up a bit before the Megatar Store! We'll see.

Or maybe it's a Non-Progress Report ...
I have put in an inquiry regarding purchasing a larger stock of strings but do not have expanded stocks yet.
However, in the meantime, I have listed the two most popular string sets on the EBay Megatar Store. Twelve-string sets of BassBottom (bass in fourths) or Inverted-Fifths Bass sets are online and available for immediate delivery.
(If you have a ten-string then you can, of course, string your instrument, and have two left over with which to tease the cat. I don't know if you can string an eight string with these. Does anybody have the gauges on a common 8-string?)

For my instrument, from B flat down to B in fourths the gauges are:
.011 .014 .020 .030 .044 .065 .092 and .0128
However, I've been thinking of trying lighter gauges on the top three strings, something like .010 .012 and .016 to make bending easier.
Hope that's helpful!
