Siggi, your work is well-known to anyone who has visited Ola's tapguitar.com site!

Regarding your two "early workx", as a Stick player, I found these two instruments very interesting.

Regarding your first instrument...how did the piezo pickups work? What kind of sound did you obtain, compared to the humbuckers that normally are used with such an instrument?

Regarding the second instrument...what was the tuning?

Wow, there are some pretty innovative designs on your site. It's nice to know that Chapman and Warr's ideas aren't the only ones out there. ;)

My first insrtrument had a standart 10str. 5/4 tuning. The piezos and the external box brings a very clean, but not a real "accoustic" sound to the speakers. Not what I`ve expected of it. OK for rehearseal, not more...

The second instrument was tuned in 4ths, B - Bb, divided in 2 regions.

One other thing, Siggi,

Those very large "surfboard" instruments (like the 17-string) are the widest guitar necks I have seen...how does one reinforce the neck for such a wide instrument, does it have three or four internal truss rods??

Sorry for delay...
The 17str. and the 18str. have both 2 two way tussrods in in the neck. I use well seasoned woods, fat necks with 8(!) millimeter
thick rosewood fretboard. - Much more than on a standard guitar.
Over all there is`nt not so much string tension... No problems with it.
