Jaquie,
I just checked out your song Tap Dance:

I am totally impressed. I was never able to get a good sound tapping my dreadnaught (Alvarez Yairi). Any comments on how to get a good sound from tapping an acoustic guitar would be greatly appreciated by many folks here. Any comments on strings, action, frets, pickups/amplification, etc.

Hello and thank you RJ for checking out my music. Tapping on an acoustic guitar can be frustrating. I have been very fortunate with my guitars. When I first started tapping I learned everything on my Taylor 512. The action that it was set up with is what I played, not real high and not to slinky. I now do most of my playing on my McCollum Meagan model, again the action is still about the same. As far as strings go I play D'Addario Medium gauge phosphorous bronze on my Taylor, I've tried them all and always come back to them for my Taylor. The McCollum guitar likes the Kevin Ryan phosphorous bronze, the gauges differ slightly, E-1st .o13, B .o17, G.o24, D.032, A .042, E .056
I use "Pick-up The World" pick-up's. I have a "stealth" under saddle and a #54, slightly off to the side of the saddle to pick up the body of the guitar. I have been real happy with these pick-ups because of the natural sound of the guitar they produce. For my amplification I have a Peavy XR600E power mixer, I run a Boss GT-6 effects processor through to a Dawn speaker system.
One thing I would like to add about the tapping style is that it's hard on my frets, especially on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd strings.
Well that about wraps it up, I hope that gives you all some idea what works for me. Thanks again for listening.
Jaquie
