View Full Version : Recording/Amp tipps needed

I have just joined a Band with my Warr (replacing a bassist) and will have to be recording in June. I have never recorded (studio) with the Warr, so are there any special things I should know, or any special tipps? Any good results when pluggiong directly into the mixing console, maybe via a DI-Box?

And also, I need a better bass amp for the band, does anybody have some suggestions which one would on one hand complement a Fender Deville 60W for the melody side, and would on the other hand also give a good impression when the melody side is plugged into a second Line-In?

Any help would be kindly appreciated!

Hey guys,

I'd be really glad if anybody could help me out, especially on the amp question. What amps do you folks use?

Tobias,

I'm a Fender guy as far as my 8-string guitar stuff goes, I play 6-string bass and keys for extra money too. I found the new Fender Bassman series a good sounding work horse amp. I went from the 50w to the 100w because I needed a little more juice, no loss of punch or growl when cranked, XLR out on the back with its own volume for the PA board (this is nice for studio recording as well). Built in compressor and a few other things that are really nice. I think they're worth checking out. Any other questions about recording I'm guessing it's with the guitar side of your Warr, try a V-Twin by mesa (the clean sound is just as great as the distortion) or if you already have a distortion box, the digital Cabtone simulator is a great add on for any distortion unit. I have used all of these, as I am a guitarist I'm a freak for tone and think tube is the best even for clean jazz stuff, that's just me. Hope this helps, let me know if I'm not clear enough.
