I found this a while back and also posted a little blurb on the Carvin board since I believe he is using Carvin through-body-necks as the basis for his instruments. Because of the playing position it would naturally lend itself to tapping. His prices are a bit steep but you could build your own 6 string and tune it in 5ths for a very small amount of cash if you are any good with wood(I am not). Anyway, I know it's a bit off topic but though it was interesting just the same.

They sure look nice.
One thing I noticed, and it may be just a photo or prototype issue ... the second photo on the second page shows (what I think) is some pretty sky-high action...particularly the low string. If the action is that high ... I'm not tapping on it.

I remember looking at his site a year or so ago. I'd like to get me one of those six string fretless basses. I love the comfort of an upright position.
