I just returned from the one week intensive school at the Players School of Music. http://www.playerschool.com

I want to let you all know that the experience was worth more than I can express with words. The school has several unique features that make it priceless:
1) They take you where you are. Of the students who attended, some of us could read music well but needed work on our improv skills. Others could not read at all. Some had a good understanding of harmony. Others didn't know even how a scale was put together. By the end of the first hour, each of us was being worked with where we were. This was especially impressive since I took my Warr. Of course they asked the standard questions.. 'What is it? How does it work? Why don't you play a regular instrument?' Once I answered their questions, they figured out really quickly what I needed to learn and met me there...
2) Complementary education. All of the classes tied together. 3) A private lesson a day !
4) Teacher concerts. Every day, the teachers would gather together and play a 3 song concert tying together what we learned.
5) Jeff Berlin's philosophy. We had daily de-briefing by Jeff Berlin himself. He talked us through the priciples and freely answered questions. After listening to him, I'm convinced he has many unique insights on how to play music, practice, and get a gig that will help me for the rest of my life.
6) The location. What a beautiful place... warm sunshine, beaches.. close enough to Orlando if you want....
7) Solfeg is a drug! (You'll have to experience this first hand.) Even my son, who is a drummer was actually having fun practicing his sight reading.
8) Concentrated learning...In one week, I learned what it would take me six months to learn in private lessons or classes.

The have another one week intensive class in September and I am already making plans on attending. Even better would be to attend the school for their entire program but for a working stiff like me, not possible at this time...

I can't say enough! This is the best investment in making music I have ever made!
