For anyone considering making a homebrew tapping instrument, guitar, or bass, here is a website which has hundreds of building tutorials, lists of suppliers for parts, and lots more --

ProjectGuitar.com (http://www.projectguitar.com)

I learned about this site from my favorite weblog, J-Walk Blog (http://www.j-walkblog.com/blog/) , which I read every day for the wierd, fascinating, and funny items he finds, and his droll reporting.

Another excellent website for the homebrew instrument enthusiast is the Musical Instrument Makers' Forum (http://www.mimf.com/), or MIMF for short. Right now, there's a thread in the Solidbody section about a fanned fret headless tap guitar built by Argentinian luthier Pablo Massa. Check it out, the instrument looks quite avant garde.

They also have a vast library of instrument making info and hundreds of pictures made by members. You have to be a member to access the library, but the subscription fee is completely voluntary.
