For a while now one Ed Roman (edroman.com) has been offering his line of R & B(Roman and Blake) basses. Looking at the info on these basses he mentions the option for 8 strings and up. he is using a single bridge per string to accomplish this feat. It looks quite interesting but quite expensive. They seem to be good high quility basses as well. check out the product at.....

I've heard the worst thing about the R & B basses is having to deal with Ed to get one.. I've heard/read that he's a real jerk..

I've heard/read that the Earth is flat (http://www.alaska.net/~clund/e_djublonskopf/Flatearthsociety.htm), Elvis is alive (http://www.geocities.com/nashville/opry/5317/elvis2.html), and that the World Ends Tomorrow (http://www.subgenius.com/pam1/pamphlet_p1.html), but somehow, I still have my doubts.
I haven't had any business with Ed Roman, so I don't know whether what you heard/read is true or not. But the instruments look nice in the pictures, as they so often do.

Very witty...
The only contact I had with him was about two years ago in regards to a bass I was thinking of having built similar to Michael Manring's "Vinny" bass... I had seen a similar bass on his old website and called to get some information about price, required deposits, build times, etc... The conversation was less than pleasant and I hung up the phone with the distinct impression that I was not to waste his time by calling with only questions..
At any rate, I took my money and my business elsewhere which is why I'm playing Conklin basses exclusively today..
So, while my own personal experience wasn't actually one of "business", based on how it transpired I am "less doubtful" about some of the other things I've heard about the man..
So, feel free to draw your own conclusions regarding Mr. Roman, The Flat Earth Theory, The JFK Assassination, Cydonia and the Martian Agenda, Hoffa, The New World Order/One World Gov't. and so on and so on..
But in regards to the world ending tomorrow.... Scientists have stated that we are actually overdue for another cometary/asteroid impact equal to or greater than 1,000,000 Mt of TNT.. So statistically speaking, the world just might end tomorrow..
