I hate to bring this "Basslines" board into 2004 with sad news, but I learned that Malachi Favors (bassist for the Art Ensemble of Chicago) passed away on January 30th, '04.
I'm happy I got to see him perform a couple of times recently. I'm not sure how old he was.
Not exactly tap-related, but I felt it was important to share.
