If one wanted to buy a CD to hear what a Stick sounds like, without a lot of processing, to get a sense of the instrument sounds like, there are CDs by Bob Culbertson, Greg Howard, Frank Jolliffe, etc., that have been around for 10 years or more.
I am curious, do "solo" (or nearly solo) CDs exist for other touch/tap instruments? Is there a solo CD with a Megatar or ADG or Solene or Warr? If not a solo CD, CDs where one can at least get a good notion of what the instrument can do?
Thanks,
RJ

I don't think there's been a solo warr record, though I have to say publically that it's too bad that Frank Jolliffe, to date has not made such a record, because t would sound great. Not just because of the instrument (and the instruments do sound great and suit his playing) but also because his playing, in my opinion, was so much more developed in the mid 1990's, than it was when he made "Solo Stick". It was the mid 1990's when he first got one of those first Warr's, and words can not describe how great he sounded playing it at that time.
OK, but I have to get back to reality here - CD's that do exist. Jim Wright's "LA Abstract" is a jam CD with drums, but the Warr is right out front, and it's a phalanx , and it sounds PHAT as all hell, so it is an excellent example.
oh - I almost forgot, William Bajzek's early demo tape was solo, if I recall correctly. Musically it will not blow you away but it has a thick chunky Warr sound (made me jealous at the time - 1997). He made a great CD called division sign later on that has Warr+guitar+drums, which is musically very nice.
On ADG, If I may humbly say so, my own Cinema Inferno disc has one track that is a true solo, and lots of ensemble stuff.

Thanks for the suggestions, Ray. I've been meaning to get Cinema Inferno for a couple months now. Any other ADG-10 recordings?
I know Daniel Schell has some CDs with a small ensemble on his Megatar. Any others out there? Any solo Megatar recordings?

If you're looking for solo Warr recordings, look no further than Markus Reuter's solo albums. I think all of them are just him and his Warr, plus of course a #$%&load of looping devices.
His output with Centrozoon adds percussion and on newer stuff vocals. Get for instance "The Cult of: Bibbiboo" if you want to check out the more avant-garde edge of tap guitar playing. Both his solo and group stuff is available at the Centrozoon (http://www.centrozoon.de/) website.

The best CD for a 1st Stick CD would be "Stick Night 99" I bought it at the Music Messe last year, and it has Greg howard and Emmit Chapman and a few others ... most are solo performances, though one interesting group is a Grand stick with 2 female vocalists ... very cool what they did ... most of the stuff is clean tone, though when I saw Greg Howard in Germany, he did use an effects system on the melody side. Hope this helps some.

If you can find them, copies of Tarace Boulba, Marco Cerletti, and Philharmonie are my favorites. One of the Tarace Boulba songs is on the jukebox at www.traktortopaz.com (http://www.traktortopaz.com) , but I think the jukebox is broken at present.

I looked up these names on the internet, and I think these are all Stick players. I already have several Stick-related CDs and videos, and there is no shortage of Warr-related CDs to choose from. I ordered Cinema Inferno over a week ago, and it should arrive any day now, so I'll have at least one ADG-10-related CD in my collection. Any suggestions for a CD where the Megatar has a prominent role? Is Daniel Schell the only one?
I'm just interested in the entire spectrum of tap guitars.

[/B]Daniel Schell's Karo Trio CD and the upcoming FATHER CD are the only published commercial CD's of which I am aware, though Rev Jones of Black Symphony will likely have some Megatar tracks on their next CD.
Rick Wade has some recordings of the MidiTapper on our website, and I have some recordings of the other Megatar models in the Library section ('song archive' at http://www.megatar.com/documents/).
