I see that Ola has posted the new pictures from the 2003 European Tap-Guitar Seminar.
As always, it looks like you guys were having TOO MUCH FUN!! I'll have to save up some money and attend one some day. I know there are Stick seminars at various places in the USA (specifically for the Stick), which I am sure are very educational, but it seems that you guys are having more fun. Besides, it would be fascinating to be exposed to a wider range of instruments, tunings, and musical styles.
Are there ever events like this in the USA?

The seminar in Belgium lasts a week, while most other seminars are just a weekend. I'm sure this plays a major part in making things more relaxed, as there's not such a big hurry. Also, since it's a long tradition means that if you return you'll meet both old and new friends.
I'm sure the Spanish Stick seminar which started a few years ago is or will be similar in this respect, given time; at least this year it was also a week long.
But all tapping events don't have to be like this to be fun. Last year, there was a (very) informal tappers' gathering in New Jersey, where local (and some not so local, like me) tappers assembled to meet, play, check out different instruments & just generally hang out. It was just a long afternoon, but definitely worth the trip. You can do this too, just get in touch with a few local tappers and arrange something similar. It doesn't have to be more complicated than that for everyone to have a good time.

A few local tappers??? I wish!! I thought I was lucky to find another Stick player about a 3.5 hour drive away, but he sent me an e-mail telling me that he sold his Stick. There probably are other tap/touch guitar players in my area, but I don't know of any. None of the tap/touch/Stick directories list any players for my state.
