Fellow tappers, after a few years of my modified six string bass, then progressing to a doubleneck and then a home-made 8-string Stick style tapper, I've taken advantage of Traktors current 'millennium' promotion and ordered a Megatar. I'm having the same inverted 5ths tuning I'm used to from my 8 string, and the optional side dots that I also like from my other instruments. I'm getting the standard maple-fretboard truetapper eclipse configuration, although I think it's quite likely that at some point I'll maybe change the pickguard for a pearloid one and add more pickups and maybe piezos or hexaphonic pickups for use with MIDI or digital modeling gear.

For other UK-based tappers, I'll let you know how the import goes, because I have a feeling I'm going to get stung with VAT (which is going back up on the 1st of January), Duty and of course the wonderful little fee the delivery service charges you to take your money to pay the taxes.

Traktor's informed me it's being machined this week, so I am positively vibrating with excitement :D

One thought. Sometimes things shift during the vibrations of shipping, and the climate change from one part of the world to another. Make sure the action is low, and make the appropriate adjustments if necessary.

Indeed, I shall take special care of that. I've imported guitars and basses before and often find a great difference in how they are set up.

I'm really looking forward to re-working some of my solo tapping compositions for 12 strings, and as soon as I've got the wider neck and extra strings nailed then I'll be recording some of them.
