Hi Tappers,
For Xmas, I want to pick up a small Stereo Guitar Amp that I can rasily carry in one hand. Its for my Stu Box, which outputs in Stereo.

Anyone own one or have used one they really like? The Stu Box Stereo Out is a one plug out, so an Stereo Amp with a single stereo plug in would be fine.

Thanks.

I have been looking for the same thing, although my focus has mostly been on a clean acoustic or jazz sound.

Here are a few I have been looking at: (Prices vary widely)

Acoustic Image Coda R (http://www.gollihurmusic.com/product/1138-CODA_R_COMBO_AMPLIFIER_SERIES_III.html)

Euphonic Audio Micro 300 (http://www.gollihurmusic.com/product/1601-EA_MICRO_300_MUSICAL_INSTRUMENT_AMPLIFIER.html)

Evans RE200 (http://www.evansamps.com/cusamps01.html)

Fishman Loudbox (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Loudbox100)

Benz Benz Shenandoah 150LT (http://www.genzbenz.com/?fa=detail&mid=2145&sid=420&cid=94)

JazzKat - various models (http://www.jazzkatamps.com/products.htm)

Roland AC60 (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/AC60/)

Tech 21 Bronzewood (http://www.tech21nyc.com/bronzewood.html)

With the Box guitar, you don't need to worry as much about the bass range, so you can probably get away with a smaller, less powerful amp.

I have been looking at the Genz Benz 150LT for quite some time now. I need to get my Megatar together and take her to the store to give it a test drive.
I plugged a bass into it at the store and it sounded good. But it needs to pass the Megatar test;)

Hi Tappers, Pho, Try
Thanks for the stereo amp suggestions. About 20 miles from here are the only two Guitar Stores in the area. A small Guitar Center and a great independent guitar shop, Danny Ds Guitars.

In Houston about 35 miles is a larger Guitar Center and an independent Evans Music City. Then a couple of more independents on the far north side of Houston, a good hour or more depending on the traffic.

Tjeu all have guitar amps, but few stereo ones. Especially since I want something small say 30 lbs or less. I have looked at some acoustic guitar amps, since I am not into death metal, so I do not need any kind of screaming cruncher amp for playing in football stadiums.

Yes, since the Stu Box is a dual guitar, I do not have to look at bass guitar amps.

iIve seen jeff moen use a Carvin AG100D for his stereo double guitar tuning. WE have a two channel guitar amp called REBEL in church, with a nice 10 band eq and reverb and chorus. Its really perfect for double guitar, but i've never seen it anywhere else!

What about a laptop running guitarrig 3? Talk about handy! Plug it into any speaker.

What about the hatefully adorable Roland Cube Street (http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.aspx?ObjectId=900&ParentId=57) ?

Good point. You could take the output of that and run it into one of the smaller JBL or Mackie powered pa speakers.

Hi Tappers,
I have bookmarked the Rolands, but have not had a chance to try them out yet. The only battery amp I own is the original Pignose, which many years ago I used for street gigs in Austin and Venice Beach. So the Roland Battery Cubes are on my try them out list.

I am a big fan of todays software amps and other kinds of modeling software and modeling amps. I have a laptop and Guitar Combo and Ampitute and lots of other music software. I have a Em o2o2 USB I use with the laptop and also with my desktop PC.

I have a Rockman Programmable 200 watt RMS programable keyboard amp with pre and post everythin, also a Fender GDex 2o and a Beringer Ultra Acoustic, so still have to try my Stu Box with those before I go out shopping for one more amp.

Still just using my Fender Frontman with the Stu Box, because its the one that is setup in this room next to my Desktop PC.

It will be entertaining taking the Stu Box out on a Road Trip to some music stores. And have everyone go,what the heck is that guitar and where did you get it.

I plan to put on new strings and break them in before going amp hunting.

Hi Again Tappers,
I meant to mention that the Rockman is a Stereo Amp. The controls and 2 speakers are in a head type unit that detaches from the rest of the speakers. Its very heavy and yoou could play in a football stadium with it. I do not hink it has been made for years now.

My GDec is the 30 with the extra amp models and a built in phrase loop recorder, midi synth, drum and bass loops, etc. It takes a while to setup your presets and save them, but once you have created ro edited your amp and effects settings, this gadget amp is a lot of fun.

I aso have a 1952 Decca Pedal Steel Tube Amp, back from when Decca was a magor brand n Nashville Pedal Steel Guitars and Amps. I am thinking of retiring it to Ebay, I used it for a stage amp for decades whenever I played any gigs where they had a house sound system. I would just mic the Decca.

I use since august 08 the the line6 spider jam, and I am exited:

1 guitar input with very usable sounds, sd card connections for storage and updates, a looper, a drummer and a lot more.

the best: it have a aditional inputs with models for bass, keyboards, acc. guitars, and, and... not bigger than a guitar combo, loud enough for coffehouse gigs and rehearsal with a drummer. If more volume required, is there a connect for the pa.

I have the tip from ron baggerman. he īve used it on the seminar in libramont, belgium this summer. OK, for the bigger "boam!" on the evening concerts he used sometimes an add. 15" bass combo. that`s all.

Check it!

I have taken a leap of faith and purchased the 120DG I will post a review here once it arrives probably a couple weeks. Both can be found for under $400. For the tapper on a budget;)

Don't knock it till you tried it. I have a 300watt 4 channel Behringer keyboard that absolutely rocks. It is a great bass, megatar, baritone and guitar amp. It has on board effects, is tough as nails and is cheap. I would assume the smaller versions are as good. I have a mixer from them which is quite cool too. I also have a gigging musician friend who swears by (not at) Behringer equipment. I am surprised that so few people on this forum use Behringer. This may be one of the few examples of an exception to the "you get what you pay for" rule.

I've played through Tom's amp - I have no money or need for another AMP IN MY HOUSE - But....................

Talk about range! I have a bevy of baritone guitars and I always recommend keyboard amps for them.

Yummy.

Hello,
Just thought I would post my review of an amp I recently got. For anyone out there having trouble making up their mind. The Amp Crate 120DG. Here is link to their site: http://www.crateamps.com/products/pindex.php?prodID=38
Specifics can be found on their site. It has served my purpose nicely. Has enough low end to handle the bass on the Megatar and ability to cut back on tweeter if the high end is harsh. For the effects I use reverb for my bass signal and I run a pedal for the melody. Seems well built. The only problem I've had with mine is when turned on it always defaults to delay on the effects I have to change the knob every time. But I got it as a Factory Refurb on ebay for about half price so....I can deal with it. Just another idea for folks looking for an amp.

Hi Tappers,
I did not buy a stereo amp yet. Still own too many amps here. I just put my Vintage Decca Pedal Steel Tube Amp up on eBay. Next I have to decide if I am keeping my 200 Watt RMS Rockman Keyboard Amp.
A 100 Watt Head has 2 speakers, then an additional 100 watt cabinet has 2 more speakers. To get Stereo Amp, you have to use the whole thing, so its a lot of amp to haul around.
It does have 100 programable presets and pre and post everything built in.
I will have to drag it out on a couple of gigs and then decide if I am going to keep it or put it up on eBay. I simply do not use it much because I use all my other amps more.
All my other amps I can carry up a flight of stairs in one hand. So no monster amp stacks for me anymore like what I vanned around with when I was much younger.
