Hi guys. Wanted to let you all know that we are now shipping every harpejji with two very cool technologies that are new (for our instrument, that is): Fret Detection Muting and Vari-Swell.

If you want the complete description, check out this link to our forum: http://marcodi.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=28

If you want the Reader's Digest Version, here it is:

Fret Detection Muting
The harpejji now senses whenever a string from bass or melody side is being fretted. I'm not talking about audio sensing, this is mechanical ON/OFF triggering (i.e. the frets are wired). We have done this in a way that is a cosmetically-invisible change. Whenever no strings are being fretted in a section of the instrument, that output is electronically muted. This eliminates a lot of unwanted noises, like unintentional open string plucks. We do the muting and unmuting without any pops, clicks or bad artifacts. Really cleans things up and allows you to play more freely.

Vari-Swell
If that's not enough, we now allow the player to vary the attack of new notes by manipulating the time it takes to unmute the outputs. You can change the attack from instantaneous to a long bowed string sound via separate rotary pots for bass and melody.

Audio clips soon. I will reply to this thread with a pic of the new knobs.

Here is a pic of the new 3-knob interface.

Left knob: Varies bass-side attack (full counter-clockwise click = mute defeat)

Middle Knob: Master Volume

Right Knob: Varies melody-side attack (full counter-clockwise click = mute defeat)

Your instrument is getting even cooler!!! I have never heard of the vari-swell thing, very impressive indeed. The muting sounds like the Bunker guitar which I have always been interested in. I would love to play one of these things. Keep up the good work!!!!

Hey guys,That sounds cool! unwanted open strings and cracks and pops are a real pain on tapping instruments and the swell sounds great! Must be great fun to play a Harpejji! I can see your putting alot of work into your instrument, cant wait to get one into the UK! Take care fellas!

I got a chance to check out the Harpejji first hand a few weeks ago. (Thanks, Tim and Jason ;) ) One really cool thing you can do with the muting system is is have the bass side off or barely on, and the muting on the treble side all the way up. This creates a long swell on the melody side chords which fill in nicely against bass patterns in your left hand. Jason did a sweet demo of this feature. Looking forward to the clips.
