custom made pickups

does anyone know a company that is will to make custom pickups? i'm haven't decided whether to go with 2 seperately placed pickups or a split pu (leaning towards split).

You could try:

Delano - German, very hi-fi pickups, used on Bee Basses. Quick turnaround from what I've heard.

Nordstrand - USA, These are very popular among high-end bass manufacturers

MEC - German, Fedrik on this board had a custom set made for his 8-string

Bill Lawrence - USA, A legend in the pickup world. He designed some classic fender pickups and other humbuckers. Reasonably priced.

Also there is bassculture (also germany). They already make custom pickups for tappers. they do wide pickups with split wiring inside.
