strings

how high of tuning can 1 get with strings? is it guitar high E or something close? please drop some knowledge my way.:confused:

Normally D4 (under guitar high e) is concidered the highest useful tuning on a 34"tapper, as i unserstand it. You can get it up to E flat too, but thats pushing it. I mentioned i few times i tuned it up to E4, when i used a M3 tuning, and could even bend it. That was with the super 007 plain steel strings from garry goodman. I think he has begun taking orders for them by now, or is very close to it. Good stuff! I think he sells them as guitar strings that can be tuned to A4, even on a short bass. That guy is a genius, redefining bass guitars to the max. I'm waiting for the new wave of two handed tapping instruments using strings like that. 9 strings should be more common f.inst taking over for the 8 strings.
I have a dream of a double 7 string, tuned in parallell fourths. The highest string on the melody side is a F4.

I like what mitch nedberg said about dreams: "I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're going and hook up with them later." But he was also the guy who tried to walk into a Target store, and missed it, so...

Anyways, i'm slowly trying to save up for a warr phalanx, 14 string. And, if possible, i would like to have the highest string on the melody side F4. The strings exist as far as i know.
