Hi,

I would be interested in hearing about tappers who play in a band situation along with a bass player (eg, instead of a standard guitar player) and how they approach rhythm/comping on their instrument. (especially in a rock/pop context)

I have been finding that I still am trapped into thinking like a guitarist (ie. strumming chords and other pick techniques).

Cheers,
Chris P

I think a good example of a tapper and bass interplay is "Lift" by the Greg Howard Band. It's cool the way the Greg and his bass-player trade-off the low-way and the solo duties.

How open is your bass player to sharing rumble duties? Have you tried to entice him with solo opportunities?

Hi!

I play in trio: Guitar (tapping), Bass, Drums. This is a S. Jordan conception, I play with young bass virtuoso, he treat bass as solo
instrument, and play with klang, chords (standard walking he plays too) etc.

One of old pieces (recorded a year ago, so realy old) You can download here:

This is Miles Davis - So What - our version.

Pick up King Crimson's Deja VROOM DVD for some serious bass, Warr, Stick interplay. Watching Tony and Trey play off each other especially on the old stuff like LTiA2 is awe inspiring.
