I'm getting kind of a lot of emails asking me, "Who won the contest?"

If this is mysterious to you, Mobius Megatar (I'm manager there) had a contest (http://www.megatar.com/contest2002/) in 2002 from February to December, where there was a free drawing. The Grand Prize winner gets a free TrueTapper Eclipse (http://www.megatar.com/english/Models/TrueTapper/truetapper.html) tapping instrument, and there are two Second prizes consisting of a library of five music books (http://www.megatar.com/english/Accessories/Learning/learning.html), and a dozen folks won a Wiggling Hula Girl (http://www.megatar.com/contest2002/wigglinghulagirl.html) for the dashboard of their car.

Well, 2002 is gone and the contest is done, and Mr. Computer has selected the list of winners. Names won't be announced until the winners have all been contacted.

However, I can tell you that the first choice for the Grand Prize resides in Louisiana, the two guys who won the Tapper's Library live in Idaho and California, and the Hula Girl winners live around the USA, plus Australia, Finland (no, it's not Ola!), and Italy.

Of course, if any of the selected winners cannot be contacted or turn out to have given us bogus names or mailing addresses, etc, then the prizes will go to the next name on each list.

When the winners have been contacted, I will post the winners here on Tappistry.Org in the Newsroom, in this same thread. (See below)

The winner of the TrueTapper Eclipse in Mobius's 2002 contest is Mr. Ian L. Sinclair of Georgetown, Louisiana.

Mr. Sinclair, 22, is a guitarist, married with one child, and has elected to have his Eclipse made with black pickguard and standard BassBottom tuning. He chose this tuning as being easier to learn, coming from a guitar background. I'll be putting his instrument together over the next couple of weeks, and shipping it off to him, with strap, cord, book, and custom gigbag.

Mr. Sinclair wisely played the odds when he entered the drawing. He increased his chances to win by sending in new titles for all six of the Archive songs, thus obtaining eight chances to win. Taking the time to improve his odds really paid off, because it was one of his extra entries that won.

Welcome to our new tapper!

I am delighted to report that I've contacted and confirmed the two Second-Prize winners.

Each wins a set of five music books -- Mobius's Easy Touch-Style Bassics, Daniel Schell's 2-book set My Space, Jim Grantham's JazzMaster Workout, and the late Werner Pohlert's huge book Basic Harmony, which also includes the Basic Mediantic and Basic Tritonic books in the same volume.

Mr. Dan Neyman of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho won the first set, and Mr. Shamus McConney of Newport Beach, California won the second set.

This is just hundreds and hundreds of pages of music books, and therefore, gentlemen, there will be a pop quiz next Tuesday! ;)

Yesterday I sent out one dozen Official Wiggling Hula Girl statuettes. (You just attach her to the dashboard of your car, turn on the radio, and drive around, and she will dance and sway to the music on the radio ... or even the news!)

The three winners in Adelaide (Australia), Pippola (Finland), and Merate (Italy) will receive their Wiggling Hula Girl in one to two weeks; plus nine Wiggling Hula Girls were sent Priority Mail to the nine winners in the USA, so they should be arriving within a couple of days.

With each Wiggling Hula Girl was included an official Mobius Certificate of Authenticity, and just to say thanks for entering our contest, the certificate has a redemption value of $100 during the rest of 2003 toward the purchase of any Mobius factory instrument.

The US winners live in Sacramento CA, Springfield MA, Dover NJ, Pittsburgh PA, Chapel Hill NC, Brandon FL, Cleveland OH, La Cross WI, and New Iberia LA.

Congratulations to the winners, and thanks to all of you for entering our contest!
