I guess the title of the thread says it all.
How's the economy where you're at?
Here in the upper Midwest of the USA, the economy seems to be about the same as it has been for the past couple years, perhaps due to a strong farm economy.
I keep waiting for high gas prices to have an effect on the economy, but it hasn't happened around here, yet.
How about where you are? Economy up? Down?

I'm self employed and don't seem to have much of a problem finding work in Virginia Beach.
I'm a landscaper, using the cash to pay my way through school so I can become a lawyer. No problem finding work there, eh?
It seems playing in a prog-math-fusion-rock-RIO-whatever band doesn't pay enough bills... gotta have some cash to finance my next touchboard, which will definitely be another Warr.
I'm also the son of an English teacher. Her job, failing young, moronic malcontents at a local high school, is also very secure.
Goos... never end a sentence with a preposition.
Word up,

There's a joke along those lines...about a redneck who got lost....unfortunately, can't repeat it here.
Landscaping for new construction, KRex? Construction still booming in your area?

No, not new construction... that seems to have slowed just a little bit since the housing bubble burst.
Plenty of work in the rich neighborhoods, though. Those who have it still want to spend it, and that works for me.
I live on a farm in the country amidst a large population of rednecks... sure wish I could hear that redneck joke.

(a) $3.27 for the 'cheap' gas.
(b) And for those non-English-majors, a 'preposition is that part of speech that one should never end a sentence with.'

Oh, you hit the three dollars mark now over there? I'm SOOOO moved with compassion for you......NOT!!!!
Gas costs $9 here. Thats not a typo, N I N E!!!! Try that!
And its not much better anywhere else in europe.
And more importantly: a 0.5 glass of beer (and normally they are really only 0.4litre even if they call it a "half-litre") cost over $8, even $9 too many places.
So, welcome to Europe this summer!!!
On the good side: There won't be much drinking and driving, thats for sure :)
(btw the beer is probably much cheaper in belgium)

I know we're an international forum, so that's what I ment when I said it could be worse.
9 bucks the hard way!
that hurts.
for the record, Maryland was/is a blue state.
that's all I have to say about that.

Gary,
Yes, gas is (3 X) more expensive in Europe, but the towns are (1/3 X) as distant from each other, so it's all the same.

I heard the wine is sweeter, too. That must explain the expensive booze. :)

If you drive a Volkswagen (like myself), you may already be equipped for bio-diesel, even if you dont know it. Mr. Diesel never intended that his motor should run on fossile fules!

But if you just bought a home - the word economy is moot - correct?
Economy! I'll show you economy.
Sunoco Gas
Lowe's
Home Depot
Waldbaum's Supermarket
Bed, Bath, and Beyond
K-Mart
One-Stop-Auto (car repair)
Time Warner Cable (3-Play Plan)
Ban of America
With all of that - there's actually an economy??
Where have I been?
Anyone want to have a basement porcelain tile install party with me? Free green tea iced tea!

Delicious Turkey Hill Green Tea Iced Tea and/ or Ziegler's Green Tea Iced Tea.
Both equally delicious and somewhat inexpensive.
Better than soda.
