The luthier who helped me set-up my Megatar had mentioned that he thought a tapping instrument would do well to have a scalloped fingerboard. (He has scalloped many of his instruments)
Here is a stick on E-bay with just such scallops.

Unless I am mistaken, that particular instrument has been for sale on eBay 3-4 times in the past couple years.
I have some experience tapping on a 'scalloped' fretboard. In complex situations, there are always trade-offs. The obvious advantages (ease of bending notes) apply, although bending by adding finger pressure (not sliding to the side) is a new motion/technique that needs to be learned. One needs to take care, especially on lighter, plain strings, not to tap too hard, and bend when you don't want to. The standard advice to tap on the fret, not between the frets, helps.

This is an OLDE instrument with the fixed bridge and nut. Scalloped is very cool, but you can still do the same thing with Fret Rails or Fret Rods. I dunno if I'd pay Emmett to make one of these.
Mark Warr, maybe since he doesn't have the same type of accessories. Good idea, cuz I'm thinking of having another Warr made for me soon!
