View Full Version : Stew-Mac Hot rods, truss rods

I want to use two of these Hotrods for my 10-string, but I'm using an abbreviated scale, 27.5 in.
Does anyone know what the true lengths of these truss rods are?
For example, is the 24" Hotrod actually 24" from the end of the nut to the end of the opposite collar, or is it 24" from one collar to the next?
I'm concerned that the 24" is too long and the 18" is too short.

Thanks,

Clark

I had some of these sitting on a shelf, but they got used for a project, so I can't measure it now.

However, Stew Mac has a fairly responsive and knowledgeable tech support department. Call them up and ask and you will find your answer.

wait....you mean I can actually CALL someone on my phone?
Aren't phones only for text messaging and leaving voicemail?
<extreme sarcasm>

Traktor,
thank you for your suggestion (of what should have been obvious to me in the first place).
You are right, of course, and the Stew-Mac folks were a lot of help.
By the way, in case anyone wants to know, the dimensions listed by Stew-Mac for the Hot rods is for the entire length...including the adjusting nut.

You might check Stewmac's site for measurements, but the measurements tend to vary depending who made assembled, and soldered the rod.

For me, this was an angst-riddled thing to work with. I still have to update my drawings. There has to be enough clearance for the allen-key, and the rod gets longer and shorter too. Phew!
