Looks like we're going to have a heckuva blizzard tonight. Ten inches of new snow already on the ground, ten inches to come, and strong winds from Canada that will blow it all into big drifts.
I'm looking forward to the Hand of Thor (or whichever diety is involved), shutting down the town for a couple days. I could use a day off.

I think the deity's name is SNODIN.
Get it? SNODIN?

Ahh, I miss the New England winters, always enjoyed getting SNODIN (good one) now and then. Not as much excitement here in Virginia. :)
My wife thinks I'm crazy but I'll take a brutal winter over a nasty hot summer.

What a dud...the blizzard that is. The NWS pulled all the stops, and went for a 2-day Blizzard Warning.....a declaration that is actually pretty rare. But...nothing happened....nothing. The wind didn't even come up. I actually think the NWS does a good job, but boy they missed it this time.
So, I got up this morning, with hardly 2 inches of new snow, and no drifts. I was looking forward to a day off, but no such luck.
KRex, thanks for the update on Norse dieties. Apparently Snoden was the twin of Odin, hated by travellers, but loved by children when he would shut down the schools.

Jay,
I found your missing snow in our yard this morning.
Schools are closed the kids are 'enjoying' a day off before the beginning of the winter break and I get to use a power device (mmm snowblower.................!).
As luck (?) would have I do not have a gig tonight.
Don't give up hope though. I'm sure the proper offerings of otter organs may appease Snowdin and you may get your storm yet.
