I have a dream that someday, there will be not two, or three, or four.....but literally dozens of small companies and basement entrepreneurs making tapping/touchstyle instruments.
I have a dream that someday that the construction of an entry-level tapping/touchstyle instrument will be so simple, that anyone with a modest amount of shop skills, a modest set of tools, a few inexpensive parts, could build one in a weekend.
I have a dream that someday the cost point for entering the world of tapping/touchstyle will be a lot closer to $200 than to $2000, and that this would lead to the growth in tapping in less-wealthy regions of the world.
I have a dream that someday the ergonomics of the average tapping/touchstyle instrument will be vastly improved over current designs.
That's my dream...what's yours?

That I will be able to play Bach pieces like Adam Fulara. Challenging isn't it?

Krappy's $800 instruments are much closer to $200 than to $2000...

I have a dream, that one day everybody who is interested in tapping will have the possibility to try out several dedicated instruments at a local store. So he/she will have the ability to make a decision based on other preferences than price, availability and look of certain instruments.
Besides my stick (and several other instruments) I’m playing a G&L 2000 (handmade bass) that I truly love since the first note I fretted, but I failed to find any other G&L 2000 (even of the same year off production) that suits my needs, neither soundwise, nor concerning playability.
So, imho there has to bee something special in the relationship of a musician to his instrument. Something, that can not be discovered without trial and error.
For ex., just get to any music store yourself and try (tex-)Mexican versions of the most popular (J)bass-design, of the most popular (F)bass-manufacturer of the world ;)
You will recognise that, one out of ten is great, two are ok and seven suck.
I would love to have this possibility concerning tap-instruments!

Indeed! There was a substantial drop in the entry point to tapping when the Megatar came out, and Kevin has dropped it another notch. I am still hoping that someday that the entry point will be lowered even further...even closer to $200.

I agree that the lack of availability of instruments has held back tapping even more than price. A tapping instrument in the Musician's Friend catalog...now that would catch some eyeballs.
