A year ago, Glenn declared the thread on Brenda's home-made tapping instrument to be the Thread Of The Year for 2005.

Any nominees for 2006?

I'd nominate the same thread for 2006, as it was my inspiration to join, and document my project (which is still incomplete).
And thanks Brenda for the inspiration!

I nominate the Krappy thread, that went from "this must be a JOKE"? to having several of us buying his instruments. :)

I agree with Gary!!!

In fact, I have a student at one of my colleges look at my collection and say. "I had a guitar like a stick, but you'd laugh if you heard the name." and I said "what was it?" He said "Krappy guitar."

I said "WHAT?" He said he had to sell it because he needed the cash.

Krappy - 2006 nominee.

I hath spoken.

I wholeheartedly agree and nominate Krappy Guitars as 2006 Thread of The Year.

Btw, everyone in my backwards town asks me:

Q:"Wow, is that a S***k?"
A:"er...nope"
Q:"And what is it then, a French Horn?"
A:"No, it's a Krappy"

Since 98% of the people here can't tell crap from Krap it's not very funny at all, at last until I play.

THEN it's funny.

Brenda's thread and the the Krappy thread are worthy nominees. I think we should also review the Tom's Tapping Project thread, before retiring to the jury room.

I don't know the rules for this 'contest', I suppose it would fall to Glenn (originator of the concept) or Traktor (who pays for the site).

Thanks for the kind words about my thread Jay, but all things considered, I'd lean more towards the Krappy thread. My thread went off into a few instrument tangents and didn't stay on track (and the tapper instrument is not even finished yet).

But the Krappy string has inspired a few purchases, and in one fell swoop, as stated earlier, went from a "joke" to a repectable product.

That alone should be worth it, right???

Fair enough, Tom. As your instrument continues to evolve, and pictures continue to appear, the thread will be automatically entered in the 2007 content.

GFD replies:

No rules, no 'contest', no popularity 'contest'; just the most interesting thread of the year to those who chose to vote.

IMO => Best of 2006, Stuart Box / Box Guitars !!! Best for the price, hands down the Box JCB-34, Stu stuck to the original price of 2-1/2 years ago and paid shipping to boot, far less than half the current price and mine's really a JCA-34 !! Instrument of the year, of course, the Box JCB-34, may SB kill at Namm !!!

Max poster of the year, RJG hands down !!!

Least likely to reply to a personal email, Traktor, by far !!!!! Repeat, TRAKTOR BY FAR !!!! It's like I never threw any business his way...........

Jamsire's gotta get a vote or two, or three.............

Awwww - shuckles.

But seriously - I am grateful for Traktor - his friendship, his professional business attitude, and his great instruments.

I am also "PLEASED" to see that people were getting their instruments - finally!!! There can't be anything worse than paying - and >>NOT<< playing.

And finally - to all of you for teaching me many things this year. Adam - you're lucky there are no parking lots nearby!!

Phooey I say!

I do try to keep the conversations going. If I over-do it, let me know.

This is a recent phenomenon, perhaps related to his posting that he has been doing a lot of shop work lately. He still does a better job at answering his e-mails than some in this market.

But, back to the original intent of the thread! Is there a consensus that the Krappy thread is the official 2006 Thread Of The Year?
