A first approximation for a lap bar, and adapter for a music stand for the ADG:

Good idea to use the strap hooks (or whatever they are called) for the lapbar. No use to drill into the body then. You are using your brain!

What do you think about the adg compared to the other instrument you've tried?

Well, Gary, anything I say will be pretty subjective....based on my own tastes...

The ADG-10's neck is a little wider than the Stick's, due to a wider string spacing. I wish it had the string spacing of a 10-string Stick, but that is the only fault I can give it. The action is nice and low, and the barts put out a nice sound. The tapping "feel" of the fretboard is very nice (egad, talk about subjective), but then again, I am accustomed to tapping regular guitars also.

The ADG, like my Stick, sounds very nice with my wife's guitar...that is the most important thing.

I play 99% of the time with a lap bar. The lap bar works better for me on the ADG, than putting a lap bar through the belt hook device on the Stick. I was always afraid that I would stress the plastic parts too much.

I think that, for $1400, a new ADG-10 would be preferable to a 20-year-old Stick on eBay (many of which are selling for about that).

Is a new ADG-10 preferable to a new 10-string Stick? Maybe not. There are some nice new features on the new Sticks regarding frets and pickups, and an extra 2" scale length, but you'll pay upwards of $500 more, and wait longer for the instrument (I think that the wait for a new ADG is 4 months).

I probably wouldn't have bought the ADG, but it was languishing for an opening bid on eBay ($800), and it was a good bargain for what I got it for.
