I have no trouble paying the mechanical copyright fee (typically 9.1 cents per song per CD sold). And, for recent songs...it isn't hard, you contact the publisher, download a form, and pay the fee.
But I am having a hard time with some older material (published in the 1920s, and the composer hasn't been dead 70 years). Tracking down a cold trail can be frustrating.
Anyone else had this sort of trouble, wanting to pay mechanical copyright fees, but not able to find out who to pay them to?
